How do I get a student credit card with no credit?

Everybody told me I'd get accepted for American Express Blue for Students because they LOVE to give cards to ANYONE, but I was rejected. I have no credit. What are some other student cards that might accept me? If I get rejected for one card, does that mean the rest will reject me too?How do I get a student credit card with no credit?
You can find a complete list of 'student' credit cards here:

It's possible that you could get denied again. But to be honest, American Express has the strictest approval guidelines of all major credit card issuers. So it doesn't surprise me that you were denied. You might try Chase. They have very high approval rates.

Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!How do I get a student credit card with no credit?
You can try chase, citibank, and capital one. When I was a student and didn't have any credit history capital one gave me a card.

How do I go about buying a car with no credit without having a large down payment?

See I dont have anything on my credit but they treat me like I have the worst credit this side of the Mississippi. This is actually my first car and everywhere I go its either I get denied or they want a downpayment of $4000 or better. I just want a good reliable used car $11,999 or under. Im just getting tired of being turned down and then them telling me its better to have no credit than bad credit. How is that when my roommate has really really really bad credit but gets approved faster than I can.How do I go about buying a car with no credit without having a large down payment?
go to orchard bank.com. and apply for a credit card. this type of master card is made for people who have zero credit or very poor credit. there is a $20 processing fee and they charge you $8.00 per month but it is worth it to get started. use this card for a few months always paying off more than the minimum balance then go to a bank and get a regular credit card and close the orchard bank card. also, you can go to the bank and get a loan of about $500. they put this $500 in an account and pull your payments out of the account and this will build you credit. also, instead of applying for credit at the dealership apply for a car loan at a bank. they are more willing to work with you.How do I go about buying a car with no credit without having a large down payment?
do you have a job. Most car co are looking for buyers these days. Also, you can try to get a loan from a credit union (you can join one, and then apply for a loan). You can also try going to capital one website and applying for a car loan. They will ask how much, and send you a check for that amount (I did this before). Also, try roadloans.com. You should receive some e-mails back from several banks and you pick which loan you want (I did this too).
I am a salesman and I have 3 different banks who work with just your situation......1st time buyers programs help our dealership sell 20+ cars extra a month I could get you done with $0 to no more than $1000 down to help establish your credit.......leasing is also an option with $1000 down if you truely have 0 credit.....if intrested let me know my name is Bryan Brooks and I work at Greenbrier Dodge in Chesapeake,VA if you dodnt live in the area I can still have the car dropped off at your front door within a couple days you can call me at 1(757)420-2800........looking foward to hearing from you!!!!
Well if you aren't hurting for a car- start building your credit- get one credit card, buy some stuff you would normally pay for yourself with your money, then when the bill comes pay off the whole thing, this will increase your limit, keep doing this and your limit will increase- after a few thousand dollar limit go back to get a car.
I know this sounds incredibly strange, but people with no credit have worse credit then those with terrible credit. I don't understand it either! One way to get around this is to get someone you know to cosign for you. I just had to do that. My mother was nice enough to. Hope you can find some one to help!
You need to buy anything at all with credit......show them you are reliable and on time with payments and people will be contacting you endlessly to try and give you credit. Other than that, you can contact the mafia or something.
You'll probably end up with a high monthly payment w/out a good downpayment.

start building your credit slowly, with a small credit card for home depot for example.

and btw, no credit hinders your life worse than bad credit.
Bad credit is better than no credit at all unfortunately. Here in VA we have a few places where they take your job as credit, but I think you still need a pretty hefty down payment. Good luck dear!
You need a co-signer. Ask a parent, aunt, uncle, brother, sister, friend, whatever.
try getting someone you know to co-sign for you. sometimes this can help. other than that, i got nothin'.
Turn the table on the situation for a second, buddy. Some dude walks up to you that you don't know from Adam and asks you to borrow $12,000. He has absolutely NO history of ever borrowing money before. Honestly kid, would you consider loaning YOUR money to him? Of course not. The world is tough, tiger. Get used to it.

How can i get an appartment with no credit and no cosigner.?

I currently live at home, but my father lost his job and he cant afford me living there anymore. I have found an apartment that i love but I do not have any credit and he refuses to cosign. I dont know anyone else who can cosign, and i NEED to move out soon or i will have no place to live. I am the manager of a restaurant, (not a fast food place, an actual restaurant) and i will have no problem making payments on the appartment, i just need to find a way to get one with no credit or cosigner. Will someone please help me figure out a way to procure an appartment asap? Thanks. P.S. I have NO credit, NOT bad credit, none whatsoever. How can i get an appartment with no credit and no cosigner.?
Try working something out with the landlord. Explain to him your situation and see if he'll work with you. Be honest, don't hide anything. Tell him money is not an issue as you hae a steady job so rent will be paid. Show him your pay stubs. Maybe a month or two of rent in addition to the security deposit will be something that he'd be willing to accept. In the meantime, try to get a start on establishing some credit, it's never too late and you need it for situations like this! Good luck! How can i get an appartment with no credit and no cosigner.?
You need a landlord who will be willing to take a chance on someone with no track history when it comes to paying rent or bills. Most likely a corporate apartment building may want 3 to 6 mos rent up front or a larger deposit. A private landlord may work with you given the circumstances. Only way to find out is to ask.

  • How do I report someone for credit card fraud?

I know someone (yes, I know for sure) and their mother are using their grandmother and handicapped sister's credit to get credit cards. These two people have spent over $10,000 in the last two weeks with these credit cards. I dont have any way of telling the victims of what is being done to them nor do I know what company the credit cards were received from. How do I and who do I report these people to? I cant stand to watch them take advantage of an elderly lady and a handicapped lady. I dont think that the police would do anything about it if I called them since its just word of mouth and no proof. How do I report someone for credit card fraud?
I think you should start with the police. They will tell you if they need more than your word to investigate this, or if they can act on that information alone.

If no satisfaction there, check with your county's district attorney's office to see if they have a unit that handles this. Lastly, most states now have special state agencies set up to investigate and prosecute elder abuse cases. Your state attorney general's office should be able to refer you.

If they really are doing this, please do something if you can.

What is the quickest way to build my Credit Score?

I have No Credit History or Credit Score what so ever !! as i am starting my life here in the USA. I don't have Bad Credit, i just have no Credit history. I have my Social Number and i have a job. I need to start building my Credit Score ASAP !! I would like to know how long it will take to build a decent score so i can apply for a mortgage while the house prices are low, and to get a credit card with a decent borrowing amount. Can anyone tell me the best and fastest way to build it up ?What is the quickest way to build my Credit Score?
well there really is no fast way to build your credit. unfortunately this takes time. but the way i build my credit score is having a credit card, not for big purchases, but so i am able to pay it back in time. This is a sure way to build credit. Pay your bills on time! Some stores like walmart even have ';credit cards'; that you use making sure you pay it back on time which also can build your credit. Consult with your bank about more ways to build your credit and you should see some credit build up in a few months.

Well i have 2 credit cards and i got them when i didn't have a job. Im a student and i have no credit either. And they have really highlimits. Si if can get one so can you. I have them thru Bank of America. Try thru them. Good luck. How do i get a credit card with no credit history?
try with some credit unions.. you might be lucky to get one..
you are applying for the wrong card, apply for a orchard bank card this card will get you approved no matter what but this card is just good to get your credit started. Use it for at least 6 months just to build some credit enough to get a better card latter on. check out www.fastcreditcardapprovals.com under poor or no credit section.
i had bad credit and easily attained one from orchard bank. orchard banks rate is reasonable and will get you started. it might be more difficult because of the economy but its worth a try. if you have no luck there think about a secured credit card. just a side not orchard bank has a yearly fee but most credit cards do and its worth it to get you started. also my husband had no credit and no one would give him a loan with a reasonable interest rate. we tried a credit union and got a loan with a great interest rate. if you just want to purchase a car i would suggest skipping the credit card and just applying for a loan at a credit union. if you get the loan just make your car payment on time and in six months you will have a good credit score. good luck.
You will need a cosigner if you are under 18. Your parents are best. If you default on the payments the cosigner has to pay for you plus interest. Credit cards aren't that great but you do need some credit history so don't go crazy with your card when you get it. Negative card history is even worse then no history.
over 18: YOu dont need a credit history to get a credit card. YOu can just sign up for one, but you do need proof of bank account and person.

Under 18: need to get permission from parents....

Capital One mailed me an offer for a business credit card, worried about credit score.?

I've just started a small LLC, and got an offer in the mail for a Capital One ';Visa Business Platinum Card with No Hassle Miles.'; It's amazing how quickly one gets onto the mailing lists once that paperwork is filled out.

Am I correct in assuming that they haven't gotten any credit info on me yet? I'm in my early thirties and have virtually no credit history, with credit scores around 580.

I've just recently begun considering getting a card with a small limit in order to start building a history, And a card for the business would actually be more useful to me than a personal card, so long as it would help my personal credit (or at least not harm it).

My main concern is that if I apply and get denied for lack of credit history (the only thing on there is an unpaid utility bill for $200 from 1.5 years ago), it will make the task of building credit that much more difficult by lowering my already terrible scores and giving me a hard inquiry with nothing to show for it.Capital One mailed me an offer for a business credit card, worried about credit score.?
make sure to get the best business credit card, check out www.fastcreditcardapprovals.com here you will be able to compare all major credit cards side by side on rates, fees and rewards.Capital One mailed me an offer for a business credit card, worried about credit score.?
It won't hurt to try, you really have nothing to lose, besides Capital One is not the best credit card..

    http://www.credit-card-collection.com
That is NOT a business credit card.

A business credit card DOES NOT REQUIRE a social security number!!!

If it's a personal card AVOID CAPITAL ONE because they DO NOT report your credt limit to the credit bureaus!!!

Your total credit limit is one of the most important variables in determining your FICO and credit scores!!!

    BEWARE!!!

In Canada, what if i used a credit card to pay off a line of credit just prior to filing for bankruptcy?

I just recently paid off 8k student line of credit with a credit card b/c the co-signer only agreed to sign if i took him off (which bank wouldn't allow due to no income on my part)or paid it off however i needed to as soon as i was done school. I just finished in sept. I am on assitance due to having a child, and credit card was only way i could pay this off. I am in debt 20k . I am thinking of filing for bankruptcy. Will how i paid off the line of credit with the credit card going to cause delays or issues if i file for bankruptcy? I did not do this as any type of fraud, but merely just found the only way to get the co-signer off the debt - which happened to be payind debt off with debt.In Canada, what if i used a credit card to pay off a line of credit just prior to filing for bankruptcy?

How long does it take to gain credit?

I went to get a cell phone in my name to get off of my dad's plan and become more independent, but when I tried, the company tried to charge me a $500 deposit because I have no credit. (I am nineteen years old.) So my dad took me to his bank and we applied for a student credit card for me.

I'm not going to overuse it, I never wanted a credit card in the first place. Basically my dad told me you can't do anything without credit, so I guess I have to start building it now. How long will it take me to build credit with this credit card and what is the best way to do it?How long does it take to gain credit?
Use the credit card every month and pay if in full beforethe due date. After about 6 months, you'll have a score. The longer you build the consistent, on-time payment history, the better your score will be.

  • Why do so many people on here say that it's ';better to have no credit cards';?

I'm not seeking credit...I have 6 credit cards, each from major banks. My last credit score was 752.

I am quite irritated to see that people are recommending to other people that it's ';better to not get credit cards at all.'; The main issue being...if they take their advice, they will have no credit. They can't get a mortgage, they can't get a car loan, they have no backup credit for emergencies, and in some areas like where I live...you can't even get an apartment without a credit check/good credit.

So my question to those people only...why do you recommend this option for everyone because it ';works for you'; to do a cash-only life? It's easy if you're a $100k a year person who can feasibly live off from cash only and do all of your purchases in cash. However, not everyone makes that amount of money to be able to pay cash for everything immediately. They DO pay their bills, but credit cards are very beneficial to them. So basically the only way the non-credit card people can buy a house is if they have ALL of the money up front to pay it completely. I doubt even those people have that kind of money on hand to just up and pay, since they live day to day on cash only and it's depleted regularly. So...what's the deal with people telling others to not get credit at all? You need credit to live in society. You need it for a lot of things, and some jobs require good credit to be considered for them. For those who pay their credit cards on time, it builds their credit and they have a backup means for emergencies as long as they don't let anything get out of hand. Why are people so bitter towards credit cards? Yes, they charge ';interest'; if you don't pay them in full at the end of the month. But some of you charge your own family/friends interest for loaning them money...how is that different, exactly? How is it ';less corrupt'; than the credit card companies they bash regularly? Why do so many people on here say that it's ';better to have no credit cards';?
i bought a house and i didnt have any credit cards. ive never made more then 40k/yr. been here 20 yrs. havent used a credit card since 2005. lent money to friends lots of times never charged interest.

it can be done. the world went around the sun without them for a long time and everything was ok then the banks invented credit scores.

look where it got us.Why do so many people on here say that it's ';better to have no credit cards';?
because the credit card like the fico score was designed to get and keep you in debt. That's all!

You have to borrow money and make payments on time to get a high score. you also have to keep borrowing money and keep making payments on time to keep a high score.

You will never get ahead financially with payments.

If you live on less than you make. Pay as you go. Save for an emergency. You will have money and not have to play kissy face with banks. You will not have to worship at the alter of the great fico.
Great question. I share your frustration. I have a son about to enter college and we are trying to get him credit.

I think most people see credit cards as large bad money making banks that force you a down a path of debt. If someone abuses them or misuses them, perhaps the is a ribbon of truth.

Most financial counselors will tell you that 3-6 credit cards are best to have. If you have to many, this will hurt you since there is to much credit available to income based on the theory you could max them tomorrow at the same time and go bankrupt.

And of course to echo your point. No credit cards or loans, NO credit.
Great question and you are 100% correct in everything you stated! To believe you should not have any credit cards at all is a matter of believing one is not capable of managing financing! That is what it is all about.

There are many cards that you can really win the game with such as interest only intro periods, or cards that give you points for your purchases to use towards other purchases, such as airline tickets. You just simply pay them off monthly and then you are not paying interest and you win with their special offers (good example, american express points for travel, every dollar you spend is a point and a certain amount of points gets you a free airline ticket, dah!)

Plus, as a mortgage lender and finance consultant, you have to have a credit history for us to make a determination on your ability to ';manage'; credit!!!!!!! Before we give you hundreds of thousands of dollars for a mortgage it makes super good sense we want to see if you can at least handle some credit cards and hopefully a car loan too!!!

How can I make my credit score better?

When I was 18/19 I took my ability to get credit cards a little too far. I got in over my head and tried to pay them as best I could, but all I could do was minimum payments. Then my husband and I rented a house for 2 years and unfortunately, we could have bought a house with the amount we paid. So in that time I got even further into debt and I just turned 25 a couple of weeks ago. I took my tax refund this year and was able to pay off every debt I owed (aside from student loans) and now I have no more credit card payments!!! YAY!!! My question is, how do I start building my credit again. My credit isn't horrible, but its not that great either. I finally got the job I always wanted so I am making quite a bit more than I used to and we also moved into an apartment that includes utilities. So we are able to save over $1000 a month plus there is an additional income from my new job. I won't every get in deep like that again, I just want to build my credit score up again. Now that we are on our feet again, everything is paid on time, or earlier, so I know that will help a lot but what else can I do. Reason I am asking is because we are saving to buy a house, and I know given the way the economy is, that trying to get a mortgage is even harder than it was, and I just want us to start off on the right foot.

pay all accounts as agreed. If you still have the cards at the ready and they are not closed then use them for say a tank of gas per month and pay them off every month. In 12 months your scores will get very high and yes put the money away for the purchase and also set up am emergency fund for your future needs of not less than 6 months True living expenses that is never touched except in a real emergency and when used replaced ASAP. Never buy all the house you can afford buy less as there is more to ownership than 4 walls. You will need to have a life with a mortgage. You are on the right track just keep on doing things right and life is so much easier when you do not have money problems as that is the root source with most couple break ups

    Good luck

With no credit you will not be approved for an unsecured card. You will have to start with secured credit.

Go to the bank or credit union you do business at, see if they have a secured credit card, if they do open an account with $300-$500. Use the card each month for small purchases like gas or groceries and pay it off in full each month.

After a year convert the secured card or apply for a unsecured card. It takes 24 months of consistent on time payments to establish a good credit rating.Confused on how to build my credit!?!? :(?
you can get a bank secured credit card to build your score. As you have already checking/savings account in bank, approach the same bank and ask for secured credit card. They might link the credit card to existing savings account or they may open another one with some deposits like $500. Then they will give you a credit card with same limit or more.

When applying for a ';bad credit'; loan, follow the following guidelines:

?Make sure they are a reputable company - check them out

?The cost will be significantly lower if you can provide any collateral, or a co-signor with acceptable credit

?Always read the fine print - you do not want any surprises such as pre-payment penalties

?Remember everything is negotiable - especially fees!

?Do not borrow more than you really need - the hole just gets bigger.

If you are granted a loan, make sure you stay current on the payments as this will help or hurt your fragile credit standing. As soon as you can, begin a credit repair program to climb out of this mess so you can get back to normal credit costs as quickly as possible.

Usually every time you have an inquiry on your credit bureau your score drops. I don't know exactly how many points, but not a lot. If you have multiple inquiry's when shopping for an auto loan most bureaus will only count it as one so it shouldn't have a great impact on your credit score. What you do after you get your loan will have the greatest impact, so make sure you stay current on your loan and bring up that credit score. Good luck.

  • How can I make my credit score better?

Any tips, advice, etc. would be great! Thanks! How can I make my credit score better?

pay all accounts as agreed.

You can use this credit monitoring service to pre-estimate future scores for different scenarios of such payments - buildcredit.ifastnet.comApply for a loan credit score drops?

Good luck.

Can I apply for a credit card with no credit?

I've been told the best way to raise my credit is with a credit card. But I've been scared to get one for fear of something going wrong and ending up in debt. How exactly does having a secured credit card work as far as paying monthly for it, using it to pay for everything I buy and how it will raise my credit? Also can I get a secured credit card with no credit as long as I have proof of employment?

Can anyone help me?Can I apply for a credit card with no credit?
Secured cards will raise your credit and you won't get denied when applying.

You place a deposit down (which will gather interests) and they then work like a normal credit card.

If you don't pay it back, they get the money from your deposit and say good bye to you.

But if you are genuine and pay your dues, all is well and your score will improve as you use it.

How Do You Get Credit?(I'm a Teen And Curious)?

I'm 15,turning 16 in December, and living in the US,obviously I have no issue with credit and have no reason to worry, but in my algebra class, some of the Juniors were talking about how they want to start getting credit or building credit, and now i'm curious as how to do so?

My mom says she has bad credit and that's why I can't get an iphone, but when i'm 18 I want to be able to buy some things(not over doing it) that she can't.

How do you build credit or get credit and at what age is it a good time to start? How Do You Get Credit?(I'm a Teen And Curious)?
credit cards were originally designed for businessmen with high

incomes. things are easy to buy at first, but dont be fooled. also

its easy to get into a situation where your short of money and you

    think ';ill use the credit card.';

once becomes twice and before you know it your in over your head.

being broke all the time because you have to repay the credit

card makes you unhappy and depressed. ask your mum!

save cash. you will always be glad you did. while your friends

are panicking ';where will i get the money to pay the credit

card'; you can feel free and buy the stuff everyone else has. soon

those friends wont be able to buy anything because credit card bills

    are killing them anyway.

it might take a bit longer but believe me you will never regret it.

just read the mega problems other people are having with credit cards. How Do You Get Credit?(I'm a Teen And Curious)?
You do want to establish credit when you are 18 but not for the purpose of buying toys. You want to save your money for those items and pay cash.

You are old enough now to establish a good relationship with a bank. Open a savings account and let the balance build up over time. Later, this will help you get a credit card, which you need to pay on time every month.

Perhaps you can encourage your mom to improve her credit now as you will need a co-signer to get a credit card at 18 under the new laws.
    Hi Ely,

Congrats on being proactive and educating yourself early! Starting with your first credit card, everything you do that involves credit becomes part of your credit history. To have a good credit history, you have to use credit responsibly.

    1. Charge only what you can afford to pay. When you get into the habit of charging only what you can afford, it lets future lenders and creditors know that you are a responsible borrower.

    2. Use only a small amount of the credit you have. Maxing out your credit cards ?or even coming close ?is one of the most irresponsible ways of using credit. Staying below 50% of your credit limit is wise, below 30% is best.

    3. Start with only one credit card. Many first-time credit card users accumulate a collection of credit cards within their first few years of using credit. Don't do this. The more credit you have, the more you'll end up using. Learn how to be responsible with credit before you apply for additional credit cards.

    4. Pay your balance in full and on time. Paying off your balance each month shows that you're capable of paying bills, something creditors and lenders want to see. Since a large part of your credit score includes timeliness of your payments, paying your balances on time improves your credit.

    5. Carry a balance the right way. Having a credit card balance isn't bad as long as you do it the right way. Make more than the minimum payment each month to pay off your balance as quickly as possible. Avoid making late credit card payments and continue to keep your balance at a reasonable level.

    Hope this helps!

At age 18, deposit money at a bank that offers ';secured'; credit cards to depositors without any credit and obtain a ';secured'; credit card from that bank. Make all required payments on time and in the required amounts. Currently, this is the only way to start building credit, because it is not currently possible to obtain other types of credit cards if you do not already have credit.

How fast can I get my husband a credit score now that were buying a house?

I have good credit and I thought that since Im married that automatically that my h got the same credit score. So when we went to purchase the rental we are living in the Broker originally said that we would be fine as my h has a good government job hes been at for a few years now and I make about 1000 a month and my credit rating is good.

A credit score is a numerical representation of a Credit History. Theres no way to rush a Credit History. Each person has their own. He should bring receipts of any utilities or personal loans that he has had in his name, that will show his timeliness of repayments.
    You can't. He does not ';automatically'; get your credit score. Credit records are individual. Only he can build a credit history, and it can't be done ';fast.';

You can call the credit bureaus and dispute any accounts on your credit report that were started prior to your eighteenth birthday since you cannot legally sign a contract as a minor. In most cases, they will be required to remove them unless they can prove without a shadow of a doubt you was capable of entering the contracts that caused you to go default on those items. Since it is unlikely because of your age, everything negative prior to you turning 18 should come off, dramatically raising your credit score. Also, you are entitled to a free credit report anytime you are denied credit. You can go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com for a free credit report from each reporting agency. If you want more than one then you have to pay.

Check down below for an example for a dispute if you have to mail one in but you might be able to do it on line. How to Prevent Identity Theft?were can i get my credit report?
someone stole my identity and used my ss to get a job and now the IRS says I owe 2700.00 in back taxes and it's the illegal that took my identity that didn't pay taxes. You are allowed one free credit report a year and they will put an alert on your name too. good luck/
When you're denied credit by a loan company or credit card company, they will send you a letter stating the denial. You can then get a copy from the agency they used to get your information. You are also entitled to a free copy once a year from the three credit bureaus (Experian, Equifax, and Transunion).

    www.annualcreditreport.com

Don't use freecreditreport.com.. It's not free, they want you to sign up for a credit monitoring service for a monthly fee.

    Good luck.

if you go to freecreditreport.com you can get it for free, and cancel with in the 7 days free trial, or pay the monthly fee(its like $12.95) and you can monitor your credit.

or annualcreditreport.com will give you one a year for free.

Getting something deleted from your credit report?

I recently checked my credit score and credit report - and it was good!!

But I noticed on my account from 2 years ago, it said I was 30 days late on my Capital One credit card. It is VERY unlike me to be late (never late on anything!) I called to try and find out more about it because I don't recall ever being late and I don't see how/why I would be over 30 days late! They guy at Capital One said that once they report something to credit bureaus, it is out of their hands. So I called Trans Union, and the lady I spoke with said she would file a dispute and if they found it to be accurate I could call Capital One back and get details.

What I am trying to figure out is - is there anything I can do to get SOMEONE to delete this if it is found to be accurate? I've have my credit card for 5 years and always pay all my bills etc on time.

I have heard of something called a ';pay for delete'; - where you can pay to have a negative remark deleted- is this common? About how much is it?

I have also heard that with some credit cards if you pay the full balance off they delete any negative marks - is this true? I have a very small balance that I have kept on it, but paying it off would be no problem.

PLEASE- ONLY ANSWER THIS IS YOU CAN ANSWER MY QUESTIONS FROM EXPERIENCE WHETHER YOU WORK IN CREDIT, HAVE HAD THINGS DELETED FROM YOUR CREDIT, ETC.Getting something deleted from your credit report?
Once the dispute is filed Capital One has 30 days to respond and either prove that the information is correct or not, if not the information must be removed.

Actually you need to file a dispute direct with Capital One that way if the information is incorrect they will be responsible for notifying all three credit bureaus. This will save you the hassle of disputing it with all three bureaus yourself.

If how ever the information is found to be correct there is no way to remove it except time. Pay for delete agreements do not work with original creditors only with secondary collection companies.

And as others have already pointed out even if the information is correct it's so old that any affect on your credit is very, very minimal.Getting something deleted from your credit report?
';pay for delete'; is likely a scam. Paynig off the balance, doesn't delete negative marks.

But honestly, if you only have one late payment in 5 years, likely no one will penalize you for it. It shouldn't keep you from getting a loan or anything.
No, you cannot get it deleted if it is accurate. But honestly, one late payment form two years ago doesn't have a big impact on your score - and the impact further lessens as time goes by.
小redit repair work械d fine to fix my credit. They disputed and removed lots of bad items from my credit report. I used this service - credit-report-score.10001mb.com
things stay on it for a long while.. and in all relaity, it isnt worth it to delete. there wasnt a trend in it was it? companies will look at older late payments and see if there is a trend, and can be predicted, and though as you said, is more a fluke if anyhting, it was a one tim eonly deal and nothing lead up to it. so it wouldnt matter all too much.

but al lin all, if it is accurate, you cannot get rid of it untill it has been removed by them. it has to run its life. though I dont know what the life span of late payments on cards is for reports.. cant get witeout for creddit reports, and cant edit what you have on it like a resume.

Suggestions on building credit with a credit card? Getting denied by everyone?

This will be my first time applying for a credit card, I'm only 18. I'm in college and been working for about 7 months. I've applied at Chase, got denied. Applied at paypal, got denied. Applied at Citi, and they were specifically for college students.

How the hell can you get denied by a credit card company that says ';Start building credit now! Apply for a college student credit card. No credit history needed';?

I even requested a report from Equifax and it shows I have no credit, so it's not messed up, however, I still get denied by cc companies that even don't require history, or is for college students (which majority of us teens dont start college with credit already).

Now I'm waiting for Discover to see if they'll accept or deny. Since these other companies didnt show on my report, I figured it wouldn't hurt to apply for another.Suggestions on building credit with a credit card? Getting denied by everyone?
Try something more commerical, like a gas card, a card at Kohls, etc. Somewhere where you would shop anyway. Those will give you limited credit, but that is OK, what you need to do is establish that you can make monthly payments.Suggestions on building credit with a credit card? Getting denied by everyone?
You will have to start off small. I would suggest applying with Bank of America to see if you are eligible for a small credit line.

    u answered ur own question:

    ';I even requested a report from Equifax and it shows I have no credit';

the fact that u have no credit is what scares them off, see a major part of how they assess credit lines is by ur past history of paying back credit..since u haven't had credit, they don't know what ur history is and thats y ur being denied.

now, do u have a local bank u deal with on a checking account or savings account? if so, then go in and talk with them. first off they have bank credit cards. secondly, they may be able to give you a 30 day signature loan for say $200. u pay it off after u wait the 30 days with interest and they must report that to the credit bureaus.

try small stuff like a sears card or something on a smal purchase. start small, never buy more on credit than u can pay off at the end of the month, and ur credit will build.

stay away from those credit cards for college students, they usually have a 18-23% interest charge attached to them..bad/bad/bad.
The credit card companies are doing you a favor, you just don't realize it.

The truth is, the credit card companies are having to tighten up because they don't have as much money to lend as they used to.

And they don't have as much money because too many of the loans the banks made in the past couple years never got paid back.

Here's what you need to do:

    1) Open up a checking account with a small bank (not one of the big national banks), and get yourself a debit card.

    2) After you've had the account for six months, apply for a credit card at that bank.
You may have to start off with a secured card which is like a savings account that reports to the bureaus. If you want to try unsecured cards, you could try Capital One (student card), Merrick Bank and Orchard Bank. Just be prepard, being your young with no credit history, you will probably get stuck with higher rates and/or annual fees.
Get a credit card from local bank and pay it in time. You also can use this service to avoid common mistakes while buiding credit and pre-estimate future scores for different scenarios of payments - creditreport.undonet.com

How can I improve my credit rating?

I had a delinquent credit card account that was closed on me. I just paid it off and now have no credit card debt. I have no other negative credit items on my report. Now, my only debt is a mortgage which is current, and a student loan which is current. Still my credit score sucks because I had this closed credit card account.

How can I build up my credit scores again? I have heard that I should re-establish my credit with another credit card company. If this is true, which is a good company to start with again? Name names. I would like to one with a fairly good rate, but I'm not even sure if can get a credit card account because of what happened with my last credit card.

Very important: Besides credit cards, what other steps can I take to improve my credit? Thanks! How can I improve my credit rating?
Getting a new credit card is a good idea. Go to www.bankrate.com or www.credit.com and look for cards for beginners or people with bad credit. It's difficult to ';name names'; because the credit market is universally poor right now, so do some research there.

If you cannot get a regular credit card, apply for a secured card. This is a card where you deposit the limit in advance with the issuer. For example, if the card had a limit of $500, you would deposit $500 with the issuer. Almost anyone can obtain one of these, and they appear as regular revolving accounts on your credit report. The rates are also better than an unsecured credit card, at least for someone with bad credit, because there is little risk to the issuer: They already have the money.

Once you have your card, make your payments on time. Thirty-five percent of your credit score consists of payment history. This goes for your mortgage and student loan as well. In fact, set up automatic payments with your bank. Even if it causes an overdraft, you'll suffer only a small fee from the bank, rather than a seven-year black mark on your report (overdrafts aren't reported).

In a year or so, apply for another card. You'll probably be able to get an unsecured card by then. Continue making consistent payments. In all cases, keep the balances on your revolving debt low (preferably under 20%). Thirty percent of your credit score is measured by your level of revolving credit and the ratio of debt to credit.

You're already ahead of the game having a student loan and a mortgage. Ten percent of your credit score is measured by the diversity of credit types you possess: installment, revolving, charge.

In all instances, don't try to obtain too much credit at once. Each time you apply, a ';hard report'; is attached to your credit report, indicating you're looking for money. Ten percent of your credit score is measured by the number of hard reports on your report. While these are unavoidable if you want credit, it's best to have as few as possible. Note that checking your own credit report does not generate a ';hard report,'; so never be afraid to check it.How can I improve my credit rating?

Well, revolving credit only closes if the company charges it off. Lucky for you, it is revolving and the easiest to deal with. You can get another card to counter this cards negative impact, that would help. Another way is to just wait, credit is a time game as well as a pay game, as time goes by the negative impact will fade for that one particular trade line. If you combine those two with keeping your other trade lines current, your credit should be righted back to pre-charge off in little time. Unfortunately, you paid it off, which legitimizes the debt in a dispute process, so the above mentioned options are most likely your best.
Having a good credit score (also known as a FICO score) during an economic downturn gives a person a huge advantage over someone with a poor FICO score. Typically, when the economy turns sour, there are bargains to be had, particularly in the real estate market , that are only available to people with large amounts of cash on hand (not likely), or people with good credit who can borrow and make bargain basement real estate investments. Applying for loans and other unsecured lines of credit credit just makes life a lot easier for you in a bad economy. So what can you do right now to improve your FICO score?

    http://www.worldbestloans.com/creditscore.htm
The key to improving your credit score is time. be patient :)
You are on the right track to improving your score. It will take some time for the negative information to fade away or drop off your credit. Just keep making payments on your current debts to show all troubles are behind you.

If you want a credit card you have a variety of options. I typically stay away from Discover due to higher interest rates, bad experience with their customer service, and it isn't taken in as many places as Visa/Mastercard. Reputable companies to look into: Citibank, Chase, Wells Fargo, Capital One. If it was recent that your card went delinquent you may have to wait some months before a card company will give you a card.

Another option for a card is to go to your bank (or another bank) and apply for a secured card. You would take a specific amount of cash and use that as the security behind the card (most people do $500).

    Good luck with the scores!

How would one go about getting a credit card with no credit score?

i am 18 years old and i want to start building some credit but with todays economy its not so easy to get a credit card are there any credit companies giving out credit cards easier than others. i applied for a bestbuy card and got shot downHow would one go about getting a credit card with no credit score?
Open a savings account, or if you have one with about $300.00-$500.00 dollars go to your bank and get a secured credit card against your savings account. How would one go about getting a credit card with no credit score?
Go to www.myfico.com, click on Credit Education. Read all you can, because what you don't know CAN hurt you. Go to this link and watch a video about a secured card:

    http://www.myfico.com/crediteducation/vi

    ';Since getting a secure card is often a method for establishing or rebuilding credit, you want to be sure the secure card company reports to all three of the credit bureaus. Otherwise, using your secure credit card responsibly won't help your score. Also, some secure credit cards have the option to convert to a regular credit card, so you might also inquire about that feature.';

To choose a card, go to www.bankrate.com, choose the Credit Cards tab. Under ';Compare Credit Card Rates, click on Select by Credit Card Type %26lt;Search%26gt;. On the right, choose the Credit Card Type - Secured Card -%26lt;Update%26gt; and compare the cards to see which is best for you. If you have bad credit, switch Credit Card Type to Credit Type.

Another option for you might be a student card. Using the information above, choose Student Card instead of Secured Card.

There is a Calculators button on the blue line above the tabs. From there you can play around with balances and how much interest you would pay if you charge a lot but only pay the minimum when you get an unsecured card.

Another great link: Federal Trade Commission ?Facts for Consumers ?Building a Better Credit Report

    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer

You are entitled by law to a free credit report once a year from EACH of the three major credit bureaus. I recommend you check each bureau once a year, a different one every four months. The only site to get a totally free credit report is www.annualcreditreport.com. Make sure everything is correct. Your FICO score is not free, however.
If you have a job and $500 in a savings account, convert it into a secured credit card. Most banks should be able to set it up for you.Make sure they belong to the credit bureau. Use it for gas and small items only and always pay the balance the following month.
The best option would be applying for a secured credit card. Secured credit cards work just like an ordinary card, but secured by a deposit account owned by the cardholder.

When you are using secured credit card it is best that you pay on time and avoid having the credit card issuer to take money from your deposit. This is because credit card issuers will often upgrade your secured credit card to regular credit card after a few months of making payments on time.

Negative mark on credit - help!?

I checked my credit score and credit report 2 days ago - and it was actually pretty good!!

But, I noticed on my account from 2 years ago, it said I was 30 days late on my Capital One credit card.

Like I said my credit was good- but I want/need it to be excellent!

PLEASE- ONLY ANSWER THIS IS YOU CAN ANSWER MY QUESTIONS FROM EXPERIENCE WHETHER YOU WORK IN CREDIT, HAVE HAD THINGS DELETED FROM YOUR CREDIT, ETC.Negative mark on credit - help!?
Most credit card companies will not delete accurate information - especially on an open account. A ';Delete for Pay'; doesn't work here - a delete for pay works when you are severely in the hole and the account has been closed and sent to collections. The company figures that you aren't going to pay, so they write it off and report it as so. What some people can do (and only with some companies) is to agree to pay the balance off in exchange for the creditor removing the offending line item from their credit report. This goes hand-in-hand with your next question about paying off the balance.

A one-time 30-day late will not drop your credit score much, and if you have had this account a while, getting the line item deleted may actually hurt your score. If the account has been opened say a few years, you will lose two or more years of good payment history in exchange for deleting a once past due by 30 days (which is minor). Loss of this credit history will almost certainly drop your score more than eliminating the one late payment will help.

I am 19 years old and I have two things on my credit. I have a department store credit card that had a $300 maximum, and it was maxed out. Soon, after I lost my job and couldn't pay for it. So now it is at $500. And I have a $200 loan I took out a while back. If I pay my credit card off how much do you think my score will increase. It is at 517 which I know is horrible. It will not improve like 80 points will it? :/ no right? Do I have to pay everything off and build credit history in order to get it to 600? How long do you think it will take to build a decent credit history. Soon, I'll pay my 200 loan off as well. Please only helpful and/or informative answers.

High income, bad credit, how do I fix it?

I have high income, but bad credit (645). My low credit score is a bit of a mystery to me. I've never gone into severe credit card debt, I've had two auto loans I've paid off satisfactorily, and I've had student loans I paid off satisfactorily. There are some bad marks from accounts I thought were closed and paid off but remained opened (I paid these the instant I discovered them), and a series of late payments due to credit card fees I didn't realize I has acquired on a card I rarely used (we're talking less than 10 dollars). Even bank agents see my credit report versus credit score and scratch their head.

In attempts to fix this I've opened credit card accounts with high limits (had to go the secured route first), no budge on my credit score. I've used them and paid them off, no budge on my credit score. I've paid off all my debt and now have $0 in debt, no budge on my credit score. Buy anything I can on credit and pay it off, no budge on my credit score. I keep adding good marks and my score goes no where.

I'm responsible with money and yet I'm stuck not being able to buy a house. Is there anything I can do to help improve my credit score? I feel like I'm stuck in a credit catch 22, I keep getting told I need more cards with high limits or a mortgage to improve my score but I can't get either because my score is so low.

Has anyone who's been in this situation have any advice?High income, bad credit, how do I fix it?
小redit repair work械d fine to fix my credit. They disputed and removed lots of bad items from my credit report. I used this service - credit-report-score.10001mb.comHigh income, bad credit, how do I fix it?
My instinct is to send you to the bank where you would most likely take out a mortgage and have a conference with the most knowledgeable loan officer there. Let him look through your credit report (take it with you as you don't want him to order it) and give you any suggestions.

The important thing now is to save funds for your down payment. With 20% down you will find it easier to purchase.

An other option is to look for a home for sale with seller financing. It needs to have no existing due-on-sale financing so probably will be a free-and-clear property that has an older seller. With a decent down payment and a copy of your credit report showing no open balances and good recent repayment, you should be able to convince the seller to take a chance on you.
http://raiseyourcreditnow.com/ has a lot of good information on credit score and how to raise your credit score.
Honestly, just start paying down debts, and have patience. It really is that simple. The more debt you have, the lower you score will potentially be.

Getting credit with no credit history?

My husband, myself and 2 yr old have to live with my mom now because we cant afford to get our own place right now. We have been talking to realtors to find a way to get our own place. They said we have no credit and need to get a good credit history before we can go any further in finding a place. We did try to apply for a credit card last year and again this year but have been denied. We need credit to get credit. How do we get credit with no credit history? My mom actually put me on her credit card because we were told it would give me a credit history. How can we get my husband credit?Getting credit with no credit history?
    Hi HS-

Here's how I did it after we had gone bankrupt and never rebuilt credit, which can look much worse than NO credit history. I went to my personal bank, Bank of America to speak to a manager. I'd been banking there a few years, so they recognized me. I explained to her I wanted to rebuild my credit. I asked if if they would consider a very small line of credit with a ';secured deposit';. This will work wether rebuilding bad credit, or starting from scratch. This is basically a savings account you cannot touch, and it's tied to the card so if you default, then the bank will have those secured funds to cover any flakiness, lol. The bank let me start with $250 cash deposit into a secured account and gave me a line of credit of $250 at a terribly high interest rate. You have to accept that the rate will be grossly high, but it doesn't matter, because you'll never let a blance carry for more than a billing cycle. So let's say you got the card. That alone isn't going to give you points on your FICO. You have to actually USE this card. Buy a pair of socks, a memory stick for your camera, or a pack of gum, even! Then, when the bill comes in pay it off before the due date on the bill. Every time you do that, your Fico score bumps up. After a while (usually a year) if you've paid every bill on time, they'll raise that limit for you! Making transactions on a credit card and never keeping balances on them is what raises your fico score. Then, as your fico score begins to move up, you will begin to get credit card offers in the mail. Take advantage of the ones with the lowest interst rate. Also, if your mom has a large balance on her credit card, say half of the credit line, then I'd get your name off it as an authorized user. Banks look at that as a negative and it actually pulls your fico score down. I have about 7 cards now, and that's a total miracle. I only have about $100 balance between 2 or 3 of them. I am still rebuilding credit. It can take a while, but it's realllllly worth it. Without good credit, you will be forced to spend much more on large purches like cars and houses; because people with mediocre credit, if approved, will have to pay exorbitant percentage rates because they are ';high risk';. Oh yeah, and make sure to stop using the high percentage rate cards as you rebuild and get newer cards with better interest rates. But don't close the accounts--not just yet. Banks like to see old, established accounts, not too many new accounts. Remember, you want to pay off balances! See, as your score rises, you get better offers in the mail on credit cards offering a lower interest rate. To buy a house, you need at least 2 years on the same job, 4 or more lines of credit with no late payments, low balances on them, a fico score over 750, ideally, and cash in the bank pursuent to down payment $$. What also can help tremendously is to have someone you know let you ';hold'; their money for awhile in your checking account. That helped me! My hubby gave me $5k (tax return money) to put in my checking account. A week later, I went in the bank for something, and the teller said, ';Would you like to take advantage of a line of credit Bof A is offering?'; That blew me away! Yes! So I got a $2000 line of credit on the spot. I hope I've given you some ideas on how to build/rebuild credit. There's also some good workbooks out there on how to do it strategically. Good luck!! By they way, if your hubby is a veteran, he can get a low interest rate home loan with NO down payment.Getting credit with no credit history?
Thank you HS! And you always ask fantastic questions that I'm sure a lot of others have wondered about. I read a lot, plus my kids are all older now, so I've had plently of all sorts of experiences. When we share, then we get to learn and gain insight from eachother. :) Michelle

If your husband and yourself have have a stable job and have not been blacklisted by any credit debts stuff. You should be able to apply for a credit card easily.

Your husband and yourself should visit a bank and speak with their finance rep. Try to understand why are they rejecting your application for credit card. You could have them make arrange to give you a lower limit credit line. For example, if the average credit line that the bank issue is $5000. You could request for the bank to issue you both with a card of like $1000 or 2000 for a start. As time goes by, if your history is good, the bank may increase it automatically or you could request for it.

I am in the process of trying to buy a home and recently reviewed my credit report. I noticed that one account was still reported as opened with a balance.

About 4 years ago, I had a credit card account with Conseco Greentree Financial services. The balance was sold off to another company when Conseco went bankrupt. I've since paid off the balance. I called the company that serviced the loan and they said there's nothing they can do since they don't appear anywhere on my credit report.

How cn I get this fixed? I can get Conseco to fix this since they are no longer in existence! HELP!!How do I fix credit report when the credit card company is no longer in business?
Dispute the credit account with the credit bureau. The credit bureau will try to contact the credit card company and when they find out they do not exist anymore you should automatically win the dispute and the account will be removed.

Good luck! How do I fix credit report when the credit card company is no longer in business?
You dispute it with the credit reporting agency. It is up to then to reverify the claim. If they cannot then request that it be removed from your report.
bring it up with the three credit reporting agencies and dispute it as paid.
Same answer without the fedora. Dispute letters need to be sent to all three of the major credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Transunion, and Experian. You will want to include information on the purchase of your account by the other company, the amount owed and paid. Another thing, have you inquired with the company approving your mortgage iregarding the impact that this one discrepancy would have on the loan?

How can someone with no credit history get a credit card?

I just turned 18 a few weeks ago and would now like to get a credit card, however, I keep getting turned down because I have no credit history. What can I do, or what credit card can I get that I would be eligible for, to get my credit history and rating up?How can someone with no credit history get a credit card?
well, i don't know what it's like now (different financial environment than when i was in college) but when i was in college you could go fill out an app and get a card right away--so are you going to be in college soon?

another thing--try to get a store card (like sears or jcpenny) that's a way to prove yourself worthy with a small credit limit...

just make sure you're careful and don't overuse the card...How can someone with no credit history get a credit card?
Join a co-op. They will give you a card similar to a credit card, which will help you earn interest. However, I strongly recommend making sure you are able to afford the things you buy with any type of card.
Start out with a store like Target that will give a very limited amount at first. Charge small amounts, pay off each mont ahead of the due by date. In a while they will indrease your limit, but do not let it get out of hand - every time you charge, put away the cash so you are sure to be able to pay the bill. If you cannot get one of those, you can get a prepaid one ( you pay in advance of charging) until you prove you are dependable.
i had the same problem to but i received my first credit card offer which i didn't apply for and responded to the offer and got the card but for you go to hsbc com and apply for a credit card . but my advice to you don't go applying like crazy for credit cards the more you apply the more you hurt and damage your credit .or go to credit cards.com
It can be hard--trust me, I've been there.

Both me and another person were able to get a Capital One ';Platinum'; (the no frills card) with zero credit history. They seem to be pretty easy to get.

If you're a student, get a student credit card. You're almost guaranteed to get approved.

Other than that, the next best thing is a secured card.

That's where you pay a set amount of money as a deposit, and that is your credit line. You aren't actually being given credit, but it builds your score.

You can also get a co-signer on a card from a few lenders. US Bank is the only place I know of off the top of my head that allows co-signers on credit cards.

That should get ya started. :)
Try Bank of America ($500.00 deposit) secured credit card.Your deposit is a CD and earn some miniscule amount of interest. With a secured card you can't spend more than you have and you will gain experience in paying the charges you make. But be careful they will entice you to be late or go over your $500.00 credit and tag you with a $29.00 fee.

How can you get a credit card with no credit?

And what are some credit cards for people with no credit? What sites are fraud and which are not? I really need to know. I'm looking to build credit. I'm 19 and I've never had any kind of credit card. Could I have credit without doing that?

Much help appreciated!!How can you get a credit card with no credit?
I agree with the secured card suggestion.

If you have a credit union in your area, stop by and ask about their secured credit cards. These cards are excellent ways to establish credit.

    This is how they work.

Say you want a $500 credit limit. You will need to deposit $500 into a savings account to back the credit card. Note, this is NOT funding for the card. It is a guarantor savings account that will only be touched in the event your payment is late or you default on the card (both very bad ideas).

The bank issues you a credit card for $500. You use it, just like a regular credit card, making timely payments (to better increase your credit score, never go over 30% of your credit limit at any time).

In the meantime, the credit union is reporting your good payment history to the credit bureaus, establishing and raising your credit score. With responsible use, most credit unions will elect to convert your secured card to an unsecured card with a higher credit limit after a year or two. As a bonus, you will still have that money in savings to back your secured card and it will have earned some interest.

The reason I recommend credit unions over banks is because more credit unions offer these cards than banks and second, credit unions won't charge annual membership fees or other bogus fees that banks love to charge, and in all cases, the APR for the card will be lower than secured cards from banks.

You may find you like dealing with a credit union so much, you'll decide to move your other accounts to it. I moved accounts to a credit union ten years ago and never regretted the decision. They treat us as valuable members instead of nuisances or cash cows. We got our last auto loan through them at a much lower interest rate than the banks were charging and, since credit unions are member owned, we get a dividend check deposited into our savings account every year.

Don't apply for retail or gas cards. Retail cards have tightened credit requirements considerably and are, in some cases, more difficult to get than bank cards. Also, each application for credit, whether approved or not, can lower your FICO score by 5 points due to the ';hard pull'; inquiry on your credit report and stay there for two years.

With no credit, you can almost certainly qualify for a secured card. How can you get a credit card with no credit?
Go to any reputable bank and ask for a secured credit card.
19 Are you in college? Any student loans in your name . I had perfect credit and didn't know it in college . I went to establish credit and wound up in bad shape financially . But if u must have a credit card most banks have a program where if you give em 250-500 bucks they will issue you a secured credit card(if u don't pay on it u lose your deposit) but be careful make sure that the card goes from secured to unsecured in 6-12 months . Another way is to have a substantial down payment on a car / house . The more u put down on something the less risk is involved for the lender . If finacially it is not feasable maybe we should be looking at saving money before we try and establish credit One final word: Credit is for investing - not consumer spending , it'll save u a lifetime of frustration
Store credit cards (Best Buy or Target) are a good place to start building credit. Make sure you pay them off quickly though, they have very high rates.

Weistie doesn't sound like she knows a whole lot about credit, secured credit cards are a fine way to get started but the advice about a car or home loan are unrealistic. No one will qualify for a car loan or a mortgage without some good credit history, even with a big down payment.
Many ';secured'; credit cards are available, but only if you deposit money in a bank first.

Do not apply on any websites. Go into a bank that offers secured credit cards and do it in person. You will need to go into the bank anyway, to deposit the money, before you obtain the secured credit card.

Do not apply for any credit cards that are not secured. Applying for credit cards that are not secured before you have credit is not a way to get a credit card. It is a way to prevent yourself from getting a credit card in the future. (They keep track of applications and may reject anyone who has a history of applying too much.)
